It's due to take place this spring on May 2nd and will be entitled "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology." As always, many high-ranking celebrities are expected to attend the event.
Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton said to Vogue on the inspirations behind the exhibit and opening event that it will "focus on the dichotomy between handmade haute couture and machine-made fashion."
He further spoke on the inspipration behind the event and exhibit to the magazine, saying, "Traditionally, the distinction between haute couture and prêt-à-porter was based on the handmade and machine-made ... but recently this distinction has become increasingly blurred as both disciplines have embraced the practices and techniques of the other."
Billboard reported that some designers who will be featured are John Galliano, Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Paco Rabanne, Pierre Cardin, and Noa Raviv in addition to honorary chairs Karl Lagerfeld, Miuccia Prada, and Nicolas Chesquiere.
