'ANTM' Cancelled: Tyra Banks and CW Network Pull the Plug After Cycle 22

After a successful 22-season run, or cycles as fans called them, Tyra Banks and The CW network have decided to pull the plug on America's Next Top Model. Read more about this cancelled show below.

The model search that began its run on UPN is coming to an end after a report from EUR stated the former supermodel and the network have mutually decided to cancel the show.

ANTM has brought life to the careers of many young women like Yaya Dacosta, Eva Marcille, Naima Mora, plus size models Whitney Thompson and Tocarra Jones; and added male models to the competition during cycle 20 with the first male winner, Keith Carlos from season 21. But Banks feels that 22 seasons is enough and released a tweet stating how this next season should be the final cycle.

The Bankable Productions entrepreneur tweeted that Dec. 4, which is also her birthday, will be the final show ever.

EUR shared a statement from CW president Mark Pedowitz, who thanked the ANTM team, stating: "I want to thank Tyra and Ken [Mok] for all their years of success in establishing a show that was not just popular in the U.S., but all across the world."

The news of the show's end comes on the heels of Banks' new ABC daytime talk show, Fab Life, where she co-hosts alongside Leah Ashley , Joe Zee, Chrissy Teigen and Lauren Makk, according to Deadline. According to the site, Banks was "pulled back in" to daytime TV at the request of Lisa Hackner, who she had previously worked with on her past talk show, The Tyra Banks Show.

People reported how Fab LIfe is on a mission to "liven up" daytime TV and Banks no longer has to bare the full weight of the show on her own. "With this team, I'm presenting these people and their ideas, and I can sit back sometimes," Banks stated according to People.

The current cycle of ANTM has six contestants remaining, and features the show's first deaf model, Nyle DiMarco of Washington D.C.
