With the help of a ventilator, two-time NBA champion Lamar Odom continues to fight for his life after a weekend of partying at Dennis Hof's Love Ranch South left him in a coma. The outcry of love and support for Odom continues to grow as each day passes. Surrounded by family and friends at the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, Odom's children, Destiny and Lamar Jr., "ask for your prayers," according to a recent statement released to CNN.
Liza Morales, Odom's longtime ex-girlfriend and mother of his children, arrived in Las Vegas on Wednesday (Oct. 14) with 17-year-old daughter Destiny, 13-year-old son, Lamar Jr., and Odom's aunt JaNean, to be by his side during this devastating time. According to PEOPLE, Khloé Kardashian arranged for the athlete's father, Morales, and their children to fly out from New York to Las Vegas, so he could be surrounded and comforted by those closest to him.
"Thanks for your outpouring of prayers and support for our dad," the pair said in a statement to CNN. "We are here with our family and friends. We appreciate everyone respecting our privacy at this time. We ask for your continued prayers."
The former LA Lakers star was admitted into Sunrise Hospital on Tuesday (Oct. 13), after being found unconscious at the Love Ranch. Odom has reportedly suffered through multiple strokes and brain damage since being discovered on the floor of his hotel suite and being treated by doctors. Due to the amount of drugs found in his system, his condition is being treated as an "accidental overdose."
The 35-year-old athlete dated Morales for 10 years before calling it quits in 2008. Along with their teenage children, the former couple also had a third child named Jayden, who died in 2006 from SIDS (Sudden Instant Death Syndrome) at just six months old. Odom went on to marry the Keeping up With the Kardashians star in 2009.
An immense amount of support and prayers have already been directed towards the well being of Odom and his family, who remains in critical condition. With a combination of sympathetic social media posts to visitors sitting by his bedside, there's no denying how many lives he's touched and impacted.
