Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif at Odds Over 'Half Girlfriend' Movie and Ranbir Kapoor?

Fans of Bollywood actresses Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone have seen the stars pitted against each other for a while now, but the girls are set to official go head to head as it's rumored that they are competing for the same role in the upcoming film Half Girlfriend. This happened following years of speculation that the two were at odds over their mutual flame Ranbir Kapoor.

Based on a book by author Chetan Bhagat and directed by Mohit Suriv, the film is a coming of age rom-com set in rural India. Kaif has reportedly been campaigning for the role even approaching Suriv herself, but it is rumored that he has already approached Padukone to play the lead.

While the ladies haven't publicly spoken out about the role or their reported feud, they recently were in the headlines together over rumors that Kaif crashed a wrap party for Kapoor and Deepika latest film Tamasha back in August.

Kaif dispelled the allegations telling Bollywoodlife "Is it true that I went? I didn't go. Honestly if you ask me, I've been so many years in the industry and every day I hear a new rumour about myself, it's irrelevant to me." Even firing at spectators saying "who is the person who has come up with this? Is this a person who loves negativity in life? Do they want to be unhappy? Do they want us to be unhappy? Paper mein aaya, I came in to the party uninvited... First of all, what kind of person goes to a party uninvited? Secondly, it's not a party, it's a wrap party for a movie that I am not in, why am I going to be there?"

As you may recall Kapoor was dating Padukone before meeting Kaif on the sets of Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani in 2009. It was even rumored earlier this year that the two got engaged.

Just last September it was reported that the women had no issues with one another, even going to the same gym. Fellow Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan apparently goes to the same gym and told sources last month "They run on parallel treadmills at the gym. They aren't BFFs or anything, but are cordial. There is never an awkward moment between them."

Half Girlfriend is scheduled to hit theaters next year.
