'Conjuring' Prequel 'Annabelle' Gets Sequel: Doll Horror Movie's Story Continues

Annabelle, the box office hit horror film based on the possessed doll from The Conjuring, is getting a sequel! Though the prequel to the 2013 film was pretty straightforward in regards to jump scares and the like, production on Annabelle 2 is officially in the works. Learn more about this movie news below.

Made for around $6.5 million, Annabelle grossed $256 million, so this sequel announcement shouldn't be too surprising. If anything, we're not sure why New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. waited until late 2015 to move forward on the sequel.

Screenwriter Gary Dauberman is returning to write the sequel, but no other names, including John R. Leonetti, have been confirmed for the new movie, according to IGN.

This was a movie that was made for very little, earned plenty of money, and garnered tons of fans. A sequel is expected, but will it live up to the original? What else can a movie about a possessed doll show us? Let us know what you think of this news in the comments section below.

The Conjuring

has a sequel on the way, entitled The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist. We're assuming the films will release a year apart like the originals, but the time period of each will be quite different. Get ready for another highly anticipated horror movie in the next years or so!

As Slash Film points out, the doll in the film is secured behind glass by 1971, and since Annabelle was set in 1969, we're not sure if this will be a direct sequel or maybe the doll gets loose!
