Organizers of a recent concert in Guragon, India that featured American bass don Skrillex have been booked for causing the death due to negligence of a 23-year-old woman at the event.
The complaint was filed by the woman, Aanchal Arora's, father to police on Sunday. Arora reportedly died of cardiac arrest, which according to doctors, was induced by suffocation and lack of oxygen. In his complaint, Arora's father alleges that timely medical attention could have helped prevent his daughter's death.
The concert took place at the HUDA Grounds in Delhi, where organizers were only expecting 6,000 people according to the Times of India, but the sold out show attracted over 8,000 people onto the premises, creating dangerous conditions. Police said that managers sought to limit the number of people at 6,000, but didn't restrict entry.
"The organizers have been booked for causing death due to negligence as there was an overcrowding at the event. The organizers had accommodated more people than they had permission for, which caused suffocation and other problems for the audience. The woman also died due to the heavy footfall and suffocation," said assistant sub-inspector and investigating officer of Sector 29 police station Kanwar Singh via the Hindustan Times.
This is the sole blemish on what was otherwise, by all accounts, a great tour for Skrillex in India. It was the first time for him in India as he played four shows in Dehli, Mumbia, Hyderabad and Bengaluru at various large arenas and stadiums. He was supported by Mija on his major headlining tour of the country.
