During their performance at last night's (October 20) iHeartRadio show in Los Angeles, Weezer debuted a brand new single titled "Thank God For Girls" and thanks to an attendee, you can now listen to the song being performed.
According to Substream, the song was performed twice during the band's set in order to record it for the purposes of a future release. You can check out the full setlist via a fan's post to Instagram below.
The band has since confirmed via a Muppet-themed Facebook video post that they will be releasing the new song as a single this coming Monday, October 26th.
At this time it is not known whether "Thank God For Girls" is a standalone single or part of the initial stages of a new album to be released. Weezer is still riding the wave of their latest 2014 LP Everything Will Be Alright In The End, with a number of shows still planned in support of the album until the end of the year. They will perform at 105.7 The Point's HoHo Shows St Louis, MO on December 8th along with Wavves and at The Rave/Eagles Club in Milwaukee, WI on December 10th with Glass Animals.
When EWBAITE came out in 2014, the band was so confident in the record that they performed intimate shows at a number of small venues around the U.S. where it was known that they would be playing the new album front-to-back, which is usually a risky move for most bands when it comes to appeasing your early fanbase. Not for Weezer; in fact, each and every show sold out instantly, proving that the record was indeed worthy of such glowing praise.
From 2008 to 2010, the band released an album each year, so it's entirely feasible for another album to hit the market so soon after the last one-or at least we can hope.
