Wiz Khalifa took to SoundCloud today to release two new songs for free. The tracks, "Just Because" produced by Harry Fraud and "Outsiders," which features production by Big Jerm & Christo, have a throwback feel to his mixtape days.
"Just Because" starts out with some spacey synths and an airy vibe with female vocal samples as Khalifa's easy-going raps glide right over the track. There is only verse on it, with the la musica de Harry Fraud carrying the listener to the end.
This a feeling I wish could never end / Remember days they didn't let us in but now we in this bitch, rollin up lettuce in my kush stronger than it ever been / My bitch don't know better than my clique, down for whatever / Thinking back, first time in Vegas, when I caught my first suite, thinking I was major," raps Khalifa.
"Outsiders" has an even more chill feel to it with rolling snares and 808s and a wobbly flute sound as Wiz Khalifa raps about his hustle in his time-tested flow. This song also doesn't have a second verse, so that could be a strategy in the future to complete the song for an official release.
"Ridin' with my windows down, roll another paper up / We just on our grind, workin', tryin' to get our paper up / Workin' on myself, workin' on myself / While I work on everybody else, everybody else."
Fans are waiting on Khalifa's upcoming mixtape Rolling Papers 2, the followup to his celebrated 2011 album Rolling Papers. According to a Tweet, Wiz decided to drop these because he is tired, stoned and only had a Panini last night. We will see if these stay as free downloads or become something more official.
