Katy Perry Supports Hillary Clinton in Iowa; Performs Hit Tracks, 'America the Beautiful'

In support of democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, pop star Katy Perry dazzled the Des Moines, Iowa crowd with performances of "America the Beautiful," and hit tracks like "Firework," "Roar" and "Wide Awake" at Clinton's campaign, just ahead of the Oct. 24 Iowa Democratic Party dinner.

"How many of you are going to be 18 next year, before November? Are you going to vote? Because you know you have the power, right?" Perry asked the audience, Billboard notes. "Listen, you have so much power and this is going to be one of the most important elections in over a decade. So much change can happen. Let's go Hillary!"

"She's my firework," Perry said, while sporting a white gown adorned with Clinton's campaign logo and an American flag cape. Clinton then joined the "Dark Horse" singer on stage, exclaiming, "Sometimes, it's important: You just have to roar about what you need to fight for."

Just ahead of Perry's performance, former President Bill Clinton addressed the Iowa gathering to support his wife and her 2016 democratic campaign. Well aware that he was the opening act for Perry, Bill Clinton kept the introduction short. "Great to be in Iowa with @HillaryClinton & be the warmup act for @KatyPerry #hillyes #roar," Bill Clinton captioned a photo of himself and the "I Kissed A Girl" singer on Twitter. Perry even commandeered Hillary Clinton's personal Instagram, sharing a selfie of the duo and a shot of her appropriately designed manicure for the 2016 campaign.

To get the ball rolling for the day, Perry recorded and sent an early, 5:30 a.m. wake-up phone call to Clinton's Iowa organizers, the Associated Press reports. "Wake-y, wake-y! Eggs and bakey. It's Katy Perry here," she recorded. "I know it's early, but you know what they say, the early bird gets the votes."

Perry, who celebrates her birthday today, swapped roles and gifted Clinton with her very own gold plated necklace that reads "POTUS".
