Nas and Lil' Wayne are set to co-headline new H.I.T. Festival, short for "History In Tampa," which will occur early next month (Nov. 7, 2015) at the USF Sun Dome. The H.I.T. Festival is being repped by controversial site WorldStarHipHop, an entertainment and news site for all things hip-hop that has accumulated quite a following over the past decade. The event is being touted as "the largest hip-hop event to take place in the South," and has also partnered with Vybe Nation.
According to Hip-Hop Wired, the event will also feature talents such as Waka Flocka Flame, Fabolous and DJ Khaled & Friends in addition to others. Billboard additionally reported this statement that WorldStarHipHop head Lee "Q" O'Denat released to announce the festival: "We've been part of the culture for a decade, and it's an honor to be able to continue that legacy with Vybe Nation. We are going to bring the house down."
It'll be interesting to see how the two mesh as headliners, since Nas reportedly dissed Wayne back in 2013 for claiming to be "the new Pac," on Decode It Now, saying, "I started to just like the fact that people were making money more than liking the music. That maybe that guy might not be great, but maybe he can feed his family now," in a nod to the explosion of commercialism in hip-hop in the past decade.
In what was assumed to be a Wayne diss, Nas further said during the interview, "There's a lot of confusion in the game because they want to go from just starting to being on a Tupac level. And there's a lot of ground to cover before you get there and they don't want to hear that." It was widely believed to be in deference to Wayne's shout-out of "I'm not Tupac, I'm the new Pac," in a video posted by WorldStarHipHop.
