F*cked Up have covered Alanis Morissette's "All I Really Want," 20 years after the singer dropped her first album, Jagged Little Pill, which is being re-issued this week. To celebrate two decades of rocking out to Morissette's landmark debut, the music streaming service, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), is releasing an all-Canadian covers album. Watch the Canadian hardcore punk outfit slay the opening track of Morissette's epic classic as part of the forthcoming Jagged Little Sessions below.
Consequence of Sound has already put the obvious first reactions to the cover into words, asserting that "frontman Damien Abraham's wicked growl gives the Jagged Little Pill original an especially dooming quality that just works in a very this-is-intense-and-I'm-scared-but-still-really-feeling-this kind of way." What also surprisingly works is the guitar riff that replaces the howling harmonica of the original.
If you are an Alanis Morissette super-fan who somehow has yet to get down to F*cked Up (this scenario is assuming you're not Canadian and you have yet to explore the awesome lineup Fun Fun Fun has in store for Austin next weekend), you would 100% approve of this cover. For F*cked Up fans who didn't necessarily go through that Jagged Little Pill perpetually-on-repeat phase, this is your chance to get into the game-changing alternative banshee. This one goes out to the latter; watch Morissette go hard in the video for "You Oughta Know" below.
F*cked Up's cover follows the release of Terra Lightfoot's Jagged Little Sessions offering, in which she covers "Head Over Feet." Check out the singer's fierce, stripped-down rendition of one of the most epic (if quirky) love songs from the 90s, below.
F*cked up will be playing on the Black Stage at Austin's Fun Fun Fun fest next weekend. Babes in Toyland, NOFX and Gogol Bordello will also be among the artists to grace that stage throughout the weekend; also on the lineup are way too many artists to even list, including Grimes and Neon Indian who both have tons of new material to throw down.
