Legends deserve to get their due praise, and Nile Rodgers is next in line.
According to Billboard, Rodgers will be honored with the International Music Summit's Legends Award next month.
Billboard also reports that Rodgers will be honored at the IMS Legends Dinner. The dinner is to be held May 21 at the Sessions restaurant within Ibiza's Hard Rock Hotel.
IMS partner Ben Turner spoke highly of Rodgers and his accomplishments throughout his career and this year in particular.
"Our love affair with Nile goes on and we are delighted he will be accepting our IMS Legends Award at the now annual industry dinner,¨ Turner said of Rodgers. ¨This event is becoming a major event on the electronic calendar and in the year that Nile took the top Grammy Awards with Daft Punk, this just feels like an extension of the incredible momentum year he and electronic music is having."
Rodgers will be the fourth recipient of this award. In the past, Pete Tong, Carl Cox and Fatboy Slim have received the IMS honor.
Turner also noted the IMS´ deep appreciation of Rodgers´ craft saying that the summit has "unofficially committed to bringing Nile to IMS every single year going forward as he brings energy, vision, history, humor and love to the Summit setting."
Maybe Rodgers will even become an ambassador for the Summit in the future.
Last year, Nile Rodgers released the ¨IMS Anthem.¨ The track was later donated for charity.
