ACMs to be held at AT&T Stadium in Dallas during 2015 to celebrate event's 50th anniversary

The Academy of Country Music isn't one to wait until the last minute. The awards show occurred just last night (April 6) and the Academy has already announced the venue for next year's event. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and country musician George Strait took the stage during the ceremony and formally announced (if the former wasn't a strong hint) that AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX would host the 2015 ceremony.

Next year's event will be a big one for the ACMs, its 50th anniversary. The celebration will include two days worth of concerts and other activities. Tickets will become available for the general public on April 15.

Sunday night's ACM award ceremony took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, where it's been held since 2003. There's no word on whether the event will head back to the more modestly sized Garden Arena following 2015's blowout celebration (no word either on whether the entirety of AT&T Stadium will be open to fans...that's a huge venue).

Those bothered by the change of location after ten years in Vegas can take solace in knowing that some things won't change. For example, Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan will still be hosting (yes, they announced the hosts a year in advance as well). The pair emcee'd for the second year in a row on Sunday, and country fans haven't gotten sick of them yet. It'll be the fifth year straight for the genial Shelton, who hosted with Reba McEntire in 2011-'12.

More exciting, although completely theoretical at this point, is that Strait could make a musical appearance at the event during 2015's event. The performer is scheduled to play his last show ever at AT&T stadium on June 7 in an event crammed with country royalty. Strait actually hails from Poteet (closer to San Antonio), but if he were to make a special appearance, Dallas is as good a guess as anywhere.
