Crystal Castles has announced their first set of live dates which will serve as the band's first live apperances since former singer, Alice Glass, left the band in 2014.
According to Pitchfork, the Canadian band has confirmed rumors that they will appear at 2016's SXSW in Austin as well as two festival appearances in South Africa. They are currently slated to appear at SoundsWild in Johannesburg (Nov. 27) and Cape Town's Synergy Live (Nov. 28).
Crystal Castles formed in Toronto in 2004 and had released three studio LPs before their final show on October 4, 2013, in Mexico. According to a recent statement by band member Ethan Kath, major hits from 2008's (i), 2010's (ii) and 2012's (iii), including their 2010 single, "Not In Love" (featuring Robert Smith from The Cure), may not have had any intellectual contribution from Glass.
The former singer, who recently released her own solo track, "Stillbirth," fired back at Kath stating "Manipulative statements about my contributions to the band only reinforce the decision I made to move on to other things."
"I am leaving Crystal Castles. My art and my self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honesty, and empathy for others. For a multitude of reasons both professional and personal I no longer feel that this is possible within CC. Although this is the end of the band, I hope my fans will embrace me as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles." Glass said when she first left the band,
Crystal Castles has moved on, however, and released "Decide," which will appear on their upcoming new album that is currently without a name or release date. It was the second new single released since Glass left the band, the first of which was "Frail" released back in April. The new singer, Edith, seems to be fitting in just fine to the band's cryptic sound.
