Bring Me The Horizon: Coldplay 'Head Full of Dreams' Artwork Copied 'Sempiternal' Flower

As Coldplay continue their process of unrolling their new album A Head Full Of Dreams, British metalcore band Bring Me The Horizon have been sticking to their accusations that the mainstream pop rock outfit stole their album artwork. Frontman Oli Sykes is calling out Coldplay's Chris Martin, saying he "could have just Googled" their artwork before copying them.

Sykes claims that the new Coldplay artwork comes eerily close to their own cover art for their 2013 album, Sempiternal. He says the band was "jackin our steez" when they chose the artwork for A Head Full Of Dreams, utilizing the same "flower of life" geometric pattern.

In a recent interview with NME, Sykes elaborated on his frustration and confusion with Coldplay's choice of record sleeve. "I've no idea, at the end of the day it's not our symbol, it's a very old symbol," he said. "They might not have known at first, but obviously if you Google 'flower of life' the first thing that comes up is 'Bring Me The Horizon - Sempiternal', it's like, if you Google the images, someone's gonna have said something to them, so whether it was intentional or not, it is the same."

(Fun fact: Bring Me the Horizon is not the first Google result!)

While looking at the situation on the bright side, he continued, "It's not ours, it's kind of cool really, it's a cool, thing that a band that big are also gonna be sharing that with people."

"That symbol was just something that I guess just started cropping up a lot and that's one thing that how I met my wife now, she was like 'No way I would actually get that tattooed' when I showed her the artwork. Mine's on my leg," he said about his own attachment to the flower of life.

Coldplay's new album A Head Full Of Dreams is due out on Dec. 4 via Parlophone/Atlantic Records. Bring Me The Horizon's latest album That's the Spirit was released in Septmember.
