Humanity was rocked over the weekend by the horrific and barbaric attacks on six different locations in Paris, including Stade de France, where an international friendly was being played between France and Germany and Bataclan where the Eagles of Death Metal were playing a concert. The Bataclan was the hardest hit, where nearly 90 innocent concertgoers were slaughtered and many more injured. The concert hall has released its first statement since the shooting.
In a statement on Twitter, owners said, "No words are sufficient to express the magnitude of our grief. Our thoughts are with the victims, the wounded and their relatives."
The statement then says that everyone who was there that night will have to wait until the authorities have completed their investigation before returning to get their belongings.
The statement in full, translated from French, reads, "No words are sufficient to express the magnitude of our grief. Our thoughts are with the victims, the wounded and their relatives. You may to want to collect paraphernalia, unfortunately the authorities still need to work on site. We will keep you informed of when it will be possible to gather in front of the building. We thank you for your support, it touches us deeply."
Situated in the 11st arrondisement, the Bataclan was hosting Palm Desert, California rock band, Eagles of Death Metal. Three attackers with assault rifles entered the concert venue, shooting at individuals inside, taking people hostage and shooting coldly and randomly at people trying to flee or lying down.
Musicians from all across the globe have showed their support for Paris and those killed at the Bataclan. Bono of U2 noted after the band canceled its shows in Paris and across Europe that "this is the first direct hit on music that we have had in this so-called War On Terror."
The music industry mounts the death of its own including band merchandise manager Nick Alexander, Les InRocks reporter William B Decherf and Mercury Records' international product manager Thomas Ayad.
