Nine days have passed since the tragedy at the Paris venue, Le Bataclan, and the attacks around the city that night. The terrorist act occurred during an Eagles of Death Metal concert, when members of ISIS wreaked havoc on the crowd. The band escaped from the venue unharmed, but 89 members of the audience were slain in the attack.
While the band already released a statement on the events of that tragic night, members have now given an exclusive interview to Vice on the tragedy. In the just released trailer, band members Jesse Hughes and Joshua Homme give their thoughts on the events to the multi-media outlet's founder, Shane Smith.
"Several people hid in our dressing room," Hughes says to Smith in the full interview trailer, "And the killers were able to get in and killed every one of them except for a kid who was hiding under my leather jacket."
He further said on camera, "People were playing dead, and they were so scared. A great reason why so many were killed is because so many people wouldn't leave their friends. So many people put themselves in front of people."
The tragedy hit the music industry hard and in addition to concert-goers, it also claimed the life of the band's merchandise manager Nick Alexander. Other victims included three record label executives Thomas Ayad, Marie Mosser and Manu Perez according to Billboard.
In an open letter penned to the public, the full band said, "Although bonded in grief with the victims, the fans, the families, the citizens of Paris, and all those affected by terrorism, we are proud to stand together with our new family, now united by a common goal of love and compassion."
It was their first official statement following the incident and the Vice interview is scheduled to premiere next week.
