Jay Rock has teamed up with Kendrick Lamar and SZA to flip their collaboration 90059 "Easy Bake" into a new song titled "Traffic Jam." While the new remix does feature the same artists as the original from Jay Rock's well-received sophomore album 90059, it gets a new, easy-going beat from the original beatsmiths Antydote, thanygod4cody and Chris Calor, as well as a brand new verse from K.Dot.
Coming in at just 2:37, the "Easy Bake" remix focuses on the second half of the song where all three artists are present with the new verse from Kendrick, while SZA and Jay Rock's parts remain the same.
Kendrick spits a vivid portrayal of the m.A.A.d. city has been so influential in his writing over the past two albums.
"Big business, big booty b*tches / Black on black Benz's / Backing out the back to back my engine / Backpack with gats in it / Backflip my dollars and bend Impalas, my arm whistling / Palm flipping, middle finger / F*ck y'all, I let it linger / Plush wall and marble floor / Ghetto commodore singing / Tours for my whores swinging," he raps to open his brand new verse.
The beat is reworked into a nice and smooth instrumental that fits the top-down California driving mentality.
Jay Rock has not gone into hiding as some might have thought after the release of 90059. He has been doing some media appearances and has been on tour primarily with Kendrick Lamar this fall, but also a brief, five-date string of headlining shows to support the album. Tonight it will all cap off in New York City at SOBs.
