Following multiple wins at the 2015 AMAs, One Direction have announced their new single "Infinity" off of their fifth studio album, Made In The A.M., on Twitter. Member Liam Payne tweeted the good news to his 21.4 million followers last night and, based on past history, a music video will likely follow the announcement.
"Infinity" was penned by Jamie Scott, John Ryan and Julian Bunetta and is the third released single from Made In The A.M. after "Drag Me Down" and "Perfect." According to Billboard the song first appeared as a promotional single for the album on Sept. 22. One Direction also reportedly did a debut performance of "Infinity" at the BBC Live Lounge earlier this month.
Made In The A.M. has done extraordinarily well chart-wise and debuted at the No. 1 spot in the U.K. and the No. 2 spot in the U.S. when it was released on Nov. 13.
One Direction were also the talk of the AMAs and the boy band dominated social media during the awards ceremony, winning most-discussed act on Twitter in addition to Artist of the Year. During the AMAs Twitter ran analysis to calculated which musical acts created the most buzz on their site and One Direction won out over Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato.
The site also ran analysis on most important moments during the awards ceremony and One Direction was the catalyst for one of the biggest, when they took the stage to receive their award for Favorite Pop-Rock Group.
Reportedly their win sparked more Twitter conversations than any other, and even beat out Carrie Underwood's performance of "Heartbeat," their Artist of the Year win, Gwen Stefani's performance of "Used to Love You," and Bieber's three song Purpose medley performance.
