DMX is making his way to the small screen. According to a promotional video for the ABC’s Fresh Off The Boat, DMX is slated to appear on the show on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
The “Party Up” rapper will appear on the show as himself.
As noted by HipHopDX, Fresh Off The Boat is a sitcom that follows an Asian-American family, who relocated to Orlando, Florida from Washington, D.C.'s Chinatown. The show details the cultural differences the family experiences and is set in the mid-1990s. The 12-year-old son, Eddie, happens to love hip-hop. The show's theme song is performed by Danny Brown.
The program was originally based off of celebrity restauranteur Eddie Huang's memoir of the same name. Huang has since distanced himself from the show and criticized the authenticity of this show on Twitter earlier this year.
Back in September, DMX was released from prison earlier than expected. He reportedly owed $400,000 to the mother of his child and was subsequently sentenced to serve six months in late June.
Earlier this year, he was implicated in an alleged aggravated robbery of a New Jersey man who claims X robbed him at gunpoint. No charges were ever filed in that incident.
"I do not recall the incident to which you are referring to," X previously said. "If I'd of did it, you'd of known about it."
The 44-year-old rapper attempted to further solidify his innocence by claiming that the devil is trying to destroy him. Prior to his legal issues, DMX hit the stage during DJ Snake's set at Coachella back in April.
DMX has previously starred in films including Belly alongside Nas, Cradle to the Grave, Romeo Must Die with Jet Li and Aaliyah, Exit Wounds and Never Die Alone.
The episode of Fresh Off The Boat featuring DMX airs on Dec. 1 at 8:30 p.m. EST on ABC.
