Sinéad O'Connor Shares Suicidal Facebook Post Citing Family Problems

Sinéad O'Connor published a troubling and emotional Facebook post Sunday threatening suicide, citing abandonment from her family as the reason.

Since the post was published, BreakingNews.ie (via Billboard) is reporting the Irish singer is "safe and sound" and receiving medical attention from the local police. O'Connor's manager did not immediately respond for a request to comment according to Rolling Stone.

In the letter, she speaks of a great many betrayals done to her by her family, which she has previously said meant everything to her. Her official Facebook bio reads "Placed upon this earth for one reason and one reason alone, to be the mother of Jake Reynolds, Roisin Waters, Shane Lunny and Yeshua Bonadio."

So, it's easy to see the weight she places on family ties.

"What was done to me this week was appalling cruelty. By my husband, my family, by St Pats and by An Garda Siochana, by my son, Jake and by Donal Lunny and Angela singleton, by my son's girlfriend, his friends ... after everything I've been put through and been forced to go through alone," O'Connor wrote in the post. I have taken an overdose. There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I'm at a hotel, somewhere in Ireland, under another name. If I wasn't posting this, my kids and family wouldn't even find out."

She also spews some very alarming, self-deprecating language about how she thinks she's failed as a mother and has been crying and howling for weeks.

O'Connor then urges her former husband, Barry Herridge, to tell the truth about her because he's the only one who knows her well enough. According to a Billboard cover story, O'Connor met the drug counselor online in 2011 and married him in Las Vegas weeks later only to split 16 days later.
