iHeartRadio Music Awards announce Drake, Shakira, 30 Seconds To Mars and more as performers

When the radio juggernaut that is iHeartRadio does an awards show, it does it big. After enlisting musical juggernauts like Justin Timberlake, Rihanna and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis as nominees for its inaugural show, today (April 21), iHeartRadio announced its lineup of performers, and it's pretty big.

The genre-bending award show will feature performances from a wide variety of artists, focusing largely on pop and hip-hop but including more fringe types of music, as well. Drake, Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar and Pitbull will be representing hip-hop. Pop will come by the way of Shakira, Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande. Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan will be bringing the country. Meanwhile, 30 Seconds to Mars and Arcade Fire will be representing the rock side of things.

In addition to performers, iHeartRadio also announced some of the evening's presenters, which also come in the form of some of music's biggest acts. Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Chris Martin, Lorde and more will be present at the ceremony.

The first ever iHeartRadio Music Awards will take place on May 1 at 8 p.m., airing on NBC. The winners will be chosen by fan vote, which runs from now through April 25.
