Pharrell Williams' "Happy" is still sitting pretty on top of the Billboard Hot 100, but the notorious hitmaker is already looking ahead. Today (April 23), he dropped the colorful, dance-filled music video for his second G I R L single "Marilyn Monroe." And, yes, that big ol' hat makes several appearances.
As could be expected from the first track off an album literally titled G I R L, the clip for "Marilyn Monroe" is just chock full of women -- Pharrell is nearly the only one with a Y chromosome in this entire music video.
The singer jaunts through several expansive sets full of dancing women. There's a dance studio, a patriotically colored set, a city boardwalk and a faux-Broadway stage. There's not a whole lot going on in this video for a majority of it, except for a happy-go-lucky Pharrell strolling and dancing about while dozens and dozens of sexy women dance around him.
It seems as though "Marilyn Monroe" is one giant dream sequence, though, with Pharrell appearing in bed at both the beginning, middle and end of the music video. At one point, he wanders away from the brightly lit, large rooms with dozens of dancers and lands in a purple, smoky dreamland with only one woman on the moon, presumably his "dream girl."
It's all very flashy, very colorful and very Pharrell. Like, very Pharrell. His infamous Vivienne Westwood mountain hat is snug atop his head for the entire video, appearing in nearly all of its available colors. Did you know you can get it in fuschia? You can!
