Wayne Coyne on Miley Cyrus, Her New Album and Their 'Milk, Milk, Milk Tour'

At first, The Flaming Lips and Miley Cyrus may have seemed like an odd match to tour together, but the collaboration actually started awhile ago. In the Flaming Lips St. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band cover album that was released in 2014, Cyrus performed the iconic track, "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds." Now, in a new interview, Wayne Coyne is talking Miley Cyrus, her new album, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz and their 'Milk, Milk, Milk' tour together.

"It's outrageous," Coyne said to Billboard. "I wasn't looking for another group to be in; being in the Flaming Lips is plenty of stuff to do. But it's a great fit. I think the music and the way that she is, it's been such a natural thing."

He further said, "I think she's so much into the way that we do things, and I'm so much into the way she does things. We discover all the time how much coincidence there is about how we feel the same way about things."

Coyne also referred to Cyrus as "easy going," "mellow," and a hard worker in the interview.

In a widely publicized twist, Coyne had published online that he and Cyrus would perform nude and have the audience be totally naked as well. The two musical acts announced their collaborative tour during a hosting spot on Saturday Night Live. The tour has been limited to mostly mid-size venues, including Terminal 5 in New York City and House of Blues in Boston.

In the past, Cyrus had come under fire for her work in the music industry, but since "Wrecking Ball" was released, she is getting more respect. This past Spring, Cyrus collaborated with Joan Jett and Lana Jane Grace from Against Me!, as well as receiving positive feedback from John Mayer on her album.
