No woman wants to hear a congratulations on a pregnancy that doesn't exist. It's kind of an insult and just brings attention to the obvious- you've gained a little weight. Actress Tia Mowry seems to have had enough of the rumors and questions about her weight, and speaks directly to those concerned fans to let them know - she's not pregnant, she just gained a little cooking show weight.
During a recent interview with Huff Post Live, the Instant Mom actress laid it all out there for her Instagram followers who think that she's pregnant because she's gained some weight. The mother of one explained how some people tend to jump to their own conclusions when it comes to a person's weight, especially when that person is an actress and in the spotlight, people tend to assume that an increase weight must mean you're expecting. For Mowry, that's not it at all. She explained the two factors that contributed to her weight gain.
"Guys, I am not pregnant, I am just happy." the actress explained. "I've gained these extra...10, 15 pounds because of my cooking show." The host of Tia Mowry at Home explained how she is a cooking show host who actually eats her own food and enjoys it. In addition to enjoying her own cooking, she said she's enjoying her life too, and she's happy with her weight. Maybe later, when she's not so happy with the extra pounds, she'll do what she needs to do to lose the weight, she explained during the interview. But for now, she's just happy and wants her followers to lay off of the pregnancy comments because she finds it offensive and a form of body shaming.
"I think that we live in a society that is so obsessed with being perfect," the 37-year-old explained. She mentioned one of Beyonce's songs talking about "perfection being a disease," and how it's such an unobtainable goal and people should just allow others to be themselves.
The actress recalled a specific Instagram comment that she had just read before beginning the interview that caught her attention because it was about her weight again, as reported by People. Mowry explained how the comment spoke about her weight gain and suggested that she loses the weight soon. But, her weight is not the only negative comments she's been receiving on social media. She tells of another post that received a nasty comment.
"I posted a picture of my husband and I two days ago, and I said 'your love is all I need'," she explained of her caption. "One person said, oh, I hope...something like, his teeth aren't as yellow as yours. And it's like, really?"
Although she found the comment to be hurtful, she has her own ways of dealing with the negatives responses. The Sister, Sister actress says she simply will ask herself the question, "is that how you see yourself?" That's really all that matters. Nevertheless, Mowry is moving into her second season of the show that is keeping her happily fed, and couldn't be happier.
