Pusha T is set to release his new album Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude on December 18th, but the rapper has released the lyrics to a new track from the album called "M.F.T.R." The incendiary lyrics in the song are directly aimed at the rapper Tyga, with whom Pusha T is feuding.
Pusha T has been in the news as of late for his criticism of current rappers, especially those who rely too much on their emotions for lyrical material. The rapper/businessman has also recently been named at the president of Kanye West's label, G.O.O.D. Music. Pusha has a very specific vision for the future of the label and hopes to use his position to have a positive impact on the world of hip-hop today. The artist/music executive hopes to find rappers that have a unique charisma that could possibly change the game. In other words, Pusha wants to extend his influence and legacy.
In the song, Pusha compares himself to the currently retired Yankee shortstop, Derek Jeter, saying he has no plans of quitting. He also goes on to take aim at Tyga. According to Genius, the lyrics read, "No retirement plans, no Derek Jeters / We all know I did it, Rodriguez / The illusion of money we don't believe in / You ask me, Tyga looking like a genius / I'm Kim Jong of the crack song / Gil Scott-Heron to the black poem / Woo, the revolution will be televised / 'Cause we done see all and they telling lies."
Pusha goes on to criticize rappers he feels are not embodying the lyrics they promote. Opting for authenticity in hip-hop, Pusha raps, "N*ggas talking it, but ain't living it / Two years later admitting it, all them n*ggas is renting shit / They ask why I'm still talking dope, why not? / The biggest rappers in the game broke, viola"
