Travis Scott, real name Jaques Webster, pled guilt to reckless conduct on Tuesday, Dec. 22 stemming from his involvement in a stampede that occurred during his set at this past year's Lollapalooza. Scott was ordered by the judge to be under court supervision for one year.
One 15-year-old girl was reportedly trampled according to Rolling Stone.
Scott's set lasted only five minutes before security and festival authorities shut it down. According to footage from the very brief show, the Houston rapper can be seen telling fans to jump the barricades in the front to get closer to the stage. He tells security to get out of the way.
As one might expect, security and organizers were not too pleased with Webster and quickly cut the music and threatened to shut down the whole performance. It was too late as the crowd was already riled up and dozens of fans had heeded his call to action and made their way on stage. Scott tried to calm them down and restart the performance, but the show was shut down and Chicago police soon after arrested him.
The Lollapalooza incident was a footnote in an otherwise banner year for Travis Scott who has quickly become a favorite of other Def Jam titans like Rihanna and Kanye West, while also launching his own career to new heights. He released his debut album Rodeo in September, which featured the hit single "Antidote" and had guest verses from the likes of Juicy J, Chief Keef, 2 Chainz and Future. It also had guest production from others like Pharrell, Kanye West, Mike Dean and Metro Boomin.
He will be heading out on Rihanna's Anti Tour next year.
