Ahead of her upcoming album, Digital Distortion, Iggy Azalea announced her new single "Team" to fans in replies on Twitter. But Azalea has always been vocal on Twitter about her upcoming projects. She teased the single to her fans, implying that while they may not hear it just yet, she will be releasing "content, buzz songs, viral videos and other cool stuff" this coming January.
She also asserted that Digital Distortion will have a strong pop influence in addition to "many other things." But the musical content that Azalea plans to release in January will not be heard on the radio or iTunes, and the rapper will instead be putting it directly on online streaming platforms Soundcloud and YouTube.
@azalealex @drowningforiggy no. lead is TEAM. meaning: ive got my own back, i iam my own team. 20% meaningful 70% bop 10% ratchet

@QuickTime_ ironically, i refer to myself as pop all the time. even on this new album. pop IS an influence. so are many other things. . . — IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) December 26, 2015
But this isn't the first time that Azalea has revealed information on new projects via Twitter. In early October (Oct. 6) the rapper engaged in a Twitter chat to talk about her The New Classic followup with fans on social media. She engaged in the chats shortly before playing the new album for executives at her Def Jam label and revealed the name of the new album, Digital Distortion. She also revealed that one major performance to promote the album is already booked and that all official promotions were due to begin in 2016.
