Bassnectar Uses 2016 NYE Show To Aid Local Birmingham Tornado Victims

American bass icon Bassnectar is gearing up for his big New Year's Eve show in Birmingham, Alabama with his 360 degree production set up. Not one to ignore the situation on the ground, Bassnectar has been keeping his eye on what has happened to Birmingham and the storms that have ripped through the city and the surrounding area. As a result of the damage, he is asking the nearly 20,000 individuals who will join him in ushering in 2016 to bring food, water, toiletries and clothes, especially underwear and socks, to the show.

In a statement on his website, Bassnectar explained the charitable push. "And while we could not be more PUMPED for the 31st, we must take a moment to acknowledge the recent severe weather Birmingham has experienced and the damage that took place. There are a number of people who lost their homes + belongings due to a tornado, plus a large number of people who were put in danger from flooding due to the heavy rains & storms."

The exact items that they are looking for are, bottles of water, canned goods, socks, underwear of all sizes and personal hygiene items like toothbrushes, tooth paste, soap and deodorant. All items will be distributed directly to those in need in the city and in the surrounding areas.

Bassnectar's NYE show will take place at the Legacy Arena at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham with support from The Glitch Mob, Paper Diamond and Psymbionic. Tickets are sold out.

If you are not heading to the show and just want to help, you can donate to the Red Cross here or to the Firehouse Shelter, a homeless shelter for men.
