Fans of Kings of Leon: get ready. A new album from the "Use Somebody" rockers seems to be on its way for 2016. This week, Caleb and Nathan Followill gave an interview ahead of their Nashville New Year's Eve concert and revealed that they have begun pre-production on their seventh studio album.
Speaking to The Associated Press, the Followills said that 2016 will begin an album cycle, with the follow-up to Mechanical Bull in pre-production and studio booked in Los Angeles.
We've already started pre-production in our studio for the next record, but the main thing on the calendar for 2016 is getting the record finished. And then the whole press machine kicks up and doing press for the record," Nathan said.
The band, who have strayed away from their original dirty Southern rock sound for stadium anthems in recent years, may be returning to form for their seventh effort. Caleb revealed that the band isn't recording in its home base of Nashville. Instead, they are going back to the City of Angels.
"Our first two albums we recorded in L.A., so we're going to try to go back and see if it inspires us," Caleb revealed, before saying they aren't totally tied to California. "If it doesn't, we always have a studio at home, so we can always come back."
This isn't the first buzz of a new album Kings of Leon have spilled in 2015. In June, the band also said they were hoping to get to work soon on a new LP.
The band's last album Mechanical Bull was released in 2013.
