Empire Of The Sun Announce New Album In 2016: 'Ice On The Dune' Followup Coming

Australian electro-pop duo Empire Of The Sun are gearing up to bid adieu to 2015 and in doing so have announced that they will be releasing a new album in 2016. This would be the first piece of music since the pair, comprised of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore, released their 2013 album Ice on the Dune.

The pair did not provide any more details in a retrospective Facebook post looking back on 2015, only confirming that an album would arrive at some point in 2016.

Happy New Year to all of our amazing fans. We’ll see you in 2016 with a brand new album!

2015 has been a quiet year for Empire Of The Sun. They have been touring on the back of Ice on the Dune, but there has been gaps in their schedule which has been presumably used for recording a new album. They did not hit the festival circuit as hard as they did in 2013 and then again 2014 to really push their live show and album around the world.

The newly announced LP would be the group's third, following up their 2008 breakout LP Walking On A Dream, which netted the hit singles "We Are The People" and the title track, then their 2013 album Ice on the Dune, which included singles like "Alive" and "DNA."

We will hopefully learn in the next few months some more details as to when the LP may be released and if they decided to work with familiar faces like Peter Mayes and Donnie Sloan on the LP.

Stay tuned for any other updates and get ready for another great year of music.
