Grammy-nominated producer and DJ Mat Zo spent much of 2015 gather headlines for his Twitter fingers, but it appears as though he is gearing up to release some new music in 2016. He has been talking about a new album on his socials over the past few months and in responding to a fan question about the new album, he revealed that his second LP would arrive in "early February." To get fans back in the mood for new music, he has been uploading songs to a playlist of rejected demos for the album that are about as diverse as they come.
The demos range from raw heavy metal to some of the more melodic sounds that were found on his first album, Damage Control. While conceptually the songs aren't bad, it is understandable why he and his team decided to reject these songs from the album and presumably add better tracks that slow into a more cohesive sounding project. Listen to the full set of rejected demos on SoundCloud below.
The new album would be Mat Zo's first since his Grammy-nominated album Damage Control was released at the end of 2013. He toured pretty much non-stop in the year and a half after its release, but has since taken the time to produce new music, which is being compiled into a new album now.
It remains to be seen if the still-untitled album will actually be released in February as there has been no confirmation from his team or label, but one could expect a single very soon.
