Janet Jackson Dismisses Throat Cancer Rumors with Snippet of 'The Great Forever'

Earlier this week, a report surfaced indicating that Janet Jackson had undergone treatment for a possibly cancerous throat tumor. The “All For You” singer dismissed the rumor with a video statement featuring a snippet of “The Great Forever” from her latest album.

The two-minute video, which Jackson shared on Twitter, features lyrics for “The Great Forever” and ends with a personal message.

“Remember… believe it when you hear it from my lips. The rumors are untrue. I do not have cancer. I’m recovering.
The doctors have approved my concerts as scheduled in Europe, and as I promised, the postponed shows will be rescheduled. Thank you for your prayers and love.”

Prior to her tweet, Jackson’s team communicated with fans through social media, announcing that she would release a statement.

A source reportedly told Radar of Jackson’s health condition.“Doctors found a growth on Janet’s vocal cords that could be serious. It’s a medical condition that has to be taken care of immediately.”

As 2015 approached its close, Jackson took to social media to announce that she must undergo surgery.

“I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon. It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring,” she captioned a photo on Instagram.

At the time, she did not specify what type of surgery or why, she did confirm that each date would be rescheduled and previously purchased tickets will be honored.

“Every date will be rescheduled. Please hold on to your tickets. They will be honored in a special way when the new schedule is announced.”

Jackson also asked fans for prayers and did, in fact, note that she would not comment further on the matter. This is the second time the “No Sleeep” vocalist has taken a medical break on this tour.
