Last week, Mike WiLL Made-It released a new track he produced for Rae Sremmurd from his forthcoming project, Ransom 2. The Atlanta-based beat maker hinted at its release date on Instagram.
In a series of posts, Mike WiLL revealed that the project will drop sometime in January. He then asked who fans want to hear on the release and whether it should be put out as an album or mixtape.
Mike WiLL released the first installment of Ransom in December 2014 and featured a slew of guest spots by artists like Juicy J, Lil Wayne, Big Sean, Chief Keef, Future, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, DeJ Loaf, Young Thug and Migos. Ransom also included contributions from up-and-coming artists like Key!, Yung Joey, Eearz and Bankroll Fresh.
Aside from his newly-announced project, fans have also been anticipating Mike WiLL Made-It's collaborative mixtape with Future. The two first hinted at Ape Sh*t last April, sharing the possible mixtape cover on Twitter. Since then, details about the tape have been limited.
More recently, Mike WiLL tweeted that Rae Sremmurd’s sophomore album, SremmLife 2, is currently in the works.
"Every song on Sremmlife is a HIT. Still sounding fresh af. Great start. SremmLife 2 in the works," he tweeted.
The Mississippi duo, who signed with Mike WiLL’s Eardrummers imprint, released their debut album at the top of 2015. The album, executive produced by Mike WiLL, featured hit singles including "No Type," "This Could Be Us" and "Throw Sum Mo" featuring Nicki Minaj and Young Thug. SremmLife debuted at No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
Back in December, Slim Jxmmi confirmed that SremmLife 2 will be released in February 2016. “It’s gonna be banger after banger after slapper,” he said.
After a relatively quiet year in 2015, it seems like Mike WiLL is ready to put out some more hits. Check back with for more updates.
