Otto Knows has released his new single "Dying For You" featuring viral YouTube violin star Lindsey Stirling and Alex Aris.
The track is one of the poppier tunes we have heard from Otto Knows so far over his career. The three-person collaboration brings together the talents of each artist in their own unique way.
Aris sings a love ballad, belting out "I would be dying for you" in the hook in his voice that sounds awfully similar to Nate Ruess.
Like in some of his past productions such as "Next To Me" and his remix of Burns "Lies," Knows relies heavily on strings to ground his melody. The percussion and instrumental from Otto Knows is pretty simple, with some basic piano, drum patters and clock ticking. It starts to pick up when Lindsey Stirling is introduced in the pre-hook as "Dying For You" gets the anthemic feel that fans come to expect from a Otto Knows tune. Her strings become the main component in the drop as the tune becomes fitted to the festival mainstages that he normally plays.
This is the first single from Otto Knows in 2016 after a very quiet 2015. He only released one single "Next To Me," which was just nominated for a Swedish Grammy. He capped off the year by releasing a remix of Axwell / Ingrosso's "Something New." This could be a big step for Stirling into more official collaborations alongside electronic music producers, who seams like a natural fit for her.
