In his first television series ever, Woody Allen will be creating a program with Miley Cyrus as its lead on the streaming service Amazon. Also starring will be Allen himself.
According to the New York Times, the series will be set in the 1960s.
In a post to the singer's Instagram account, Cyrus wrote "I was looking into his eyes when I got the call to be a part of the cast," referring to a painting of Woody Allen she has hanging in her bedroom.
The series will comprise six, half-hour episodes.
Mr. Allen has responded to his decision with--likely sarcastic-- dismay and regret, saying he wished he had never said "O.K."
Allen told Cannes reporters in May, "It was a catastrophic mistake for me," regarding his foray into the small screen.
"I don't even know what a streaming service is," he continued in an interview with Deadline around the same period. "I never knew what Amazon was."
"Amazon kept coming to me and saying, please do this, whatever you want," he continued. "Well, this went on for a year and a half, and they kept making a better deal and a better deal. Finally they said look, we'll do anything that you want, just give us six half hours."
He added, "I have regretted every second since I said O.K."
However, Cyrus seems to have enough enthusiasm for the two of them, posting about her love for the famed director, and her excitement to work with him on a show about the 1960s.
"Stoked to be in Woody Allens first series!!!!!" she wrote on Instagram. "...next to my bed for a few years now has been this portrait of W.A. ... 1960zzzz here I (come)."
