Organizers of Hoodchella is Being Sued by Coachella for Trademark Infringement

Many are very familiar with Coachella but have you heard of Hoodchella? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, The organizers of Coachella have and they are suing Hoodchella's organizers for trademark infringement.

Hoodchella is an underground concert in Los Angeles that is held in April just like Coachella. Hoodchella was a one day festival but has recently decided that they wanted to change it to three days. Coachella wasn't having that and decided to sue the organizer, Kamil Al-Ahdali. According to Complex, Coachella will be suing for $100,000 along with injunction, attorney fees, Hoodchella's domain name and other unnamed damages. The suit states, "trademark and service mark infringement, false designation of origin, dilution, unfair competition and cybersquatting, a term used in this case over the fest's registration of the hoodchella.com domain name."

Hoodchella has only taken place once, last year on April 11th, in the middle of Coachella's weekend. The show featured different DJs, vendors and more. Now, the organizer wants to make it a three day event this year: April 8th-10th, a week prior to Coachella.

According to Billboard, Hoodchella has a petition going on their Facebook page, created by the artist, Chasity Londyn. The petition reads, "we are not in anyway [sic] associated with coachella [sic] and we have never been associated with golden voice, AEG, or Coachella. It's clear that our fan base knows we are two completely different establishments being that we already gained a fan base from our past underground art and music shows."

The petition so far has 100 signatures and only needs 100 more to go. This is the first news to be released of the lawsuit. We are awaiting to see how this unfolds.
