David Bowie’s final wishes have been revealed and the “Lazarus” singer reportedly wanted to be cremated in Bali “in accordance with the Buddhist rituals,” and if that were not possible, for his ashes to be scattered in the country. Apparently, the cremation was not possible in that country as he was quietly cremated in New Jersey earlier this month. The singer will leave the majority of his estate to his widow, model, actress and entrepreneur Iman, and his two children. The 20-page will, which was filed under the name David Robert Jones in a New York court, listed the estate as being equal to $100 million. The exact financial calculations have not been yet revealed.
His SoHo property was left to his wife as well as 50 percent of his net worth as an artist. Bowie’s son, Duncan Jones, who was from a previous marriage, was the recipient of 25 percent of his full estate. His daughter, Alexandria, received 25 percent in addition to his mountain property and home in Ulster County, New York. A full $2 million will be delivered to his personal assistant, Corinne Schwab, as well as the shares she owned in the company Opossum Inc. Another $1 million was left to Alexandria’s nanny, Marion Skene, according to Billboard. (Other publications like DailyMail list Ms. Skene as being Duncan's childhood nanny.)
In other Bowie news, the music world and beyond have been mourning the loss of the pop icon and recently he was honored with a Ziggy Stardust-inspired constellation following his death. The Belgian radio station Studio Brussels in collaboration with the MIRA Public Observatory have constructed a constellation to honor the singer. The constellation is comprised of seven stars, that form the outline of a lightning bolt, which was Bowie’s trademark during his Ziggy Stardust period.
