It's been a busy month for Joe Nichols. He became a new dad on May 20th when his wife Heather gave birth to their second daughter. He played Bayou Country Superfest on May 25 and now he's released a new music video.
The video for "Yeah," the second single from his October 2013 release, Crickets, is a fun look at young love and how a guy will say just about anything to win the affection of a beautiful girl. With Wes Edwards in the director's chair, fans see a comic book come to life. (Edwards has been the man behind several videos from stars like Dierks Bentley, Danny Gokey and Jake Owen.) The girl? A beauty. The guy? Hooked from the moment she climbs down out of her truck and anything she wants, his answer is "Yeah!"
While not a new sound for the Arkansas native, it's a new man that the entire album comes from. After leaving Show Dog when It's All Good, his 2011 release, didn't produce any hits, it seemed like Joe Nichols had hung up his hat. A year went by with nothing but cricket noises coming from the Nichols camp. What the public didn't know at the time was that Joe's wife Heather suffered five miscarriages. The new lifestyle and coping skills that Joe learned in 2006 while dealing with a substance abuse problem most definitely came into play to keep him upright and sane as the world around him went from bad to worse.
When Heather gave birth to their first child, a healthy little girl, things started looking up. They weathered the storm and the sunshine was peeking through. As more clouds parted, Nichols signed a deal with Red Bow Records and started recording Crickets with a brand new outlook on life.
The lead-off single, "Sunny and 75," was a big hit at radio that went all the way to #1 (his first since 2009). "Yeah" may well follow right in its footsteps.
