Jenny Lewis has been on the road for more than a year now in promotion of her 2014 solo album Voyager and her cover of The Traveling Wilburys' "Handle With Care" has been a staple of that show practically since she first recorded the record on her 2006 LP Rabbit Fur Coat. But last night's show at Nashville's historic Ryan Auditorium was a special rendition as she performed the tune with the "Margaritaville" singer himself, Jimmy Buffet.
It takes someone special to fill the big shoes of Roy Orbison's verse, but Buffet tackled it with grace (the whole crowd erupts in applause anytime he sings).
Openers The Watson Twins and M. Ward also joined the singers on stage for the collaborative song originally written and performed by the supergroup consisting of Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynn, Orbison, George Harrison and Tom Petty.
According to Rolling Stone Country, Rabbit Fur Coat is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and the original cover of the tune, featured the two openers in attendance that night as well as Ben Gibbard and Conor Oberst.
The performance is one of the final of her extensive tour, which ends tonight with another performance in Nashville at The Basement East.
Watch the performance below.
On February 26, the album and DVD of "George Fest: A Night to Celebrate the Music of George Harrison," will be released featuring another performance of "Handle With Care" played by a myriad of artists including Brandon Flowers, Britt Daniel, Dhani Harrison, Jonathan Bates, Wayne Coyne and "Weird Al" Yankovic. The artists also tackle a whole host of other Harrison tunes including hits from his days with The Beatles such as "Something" and "Here Comes The Sun" as well as his prolific solo career from "What is Life" to "My Sweet Lord."
