On Thursday (Feb. 12), Toronto’s Mayor John Tory presented Drake with the Key to the City. He received the honor in his hometown during NBA All-Star Weekend.
While presenting the self-proclaimed 6 God with the key, Tory praised Drake for inspiring and continuously representing the city of Toronto.
“This is one of the greatest moments of my life, if not the greatest,” Drizzy said. “We have something extremely special in this place. I will never stop loving this city. I will never stop representing this city.”
As noted by Rap-Up, the key ceremony was held just before Drake coached Team Canada in the Celebrity All-Star game. He coached his team to victory over Kevin Hart’s Team USA. “If we’re talking city versus city, it’s been a tough year for you,” Drizzy told Hart, who hails from Philadelphia. Some took Drake’s comment as yet another jab at Philly rapper Meek Mill.

Last week, Drake took to social media to share advertisements for his forthcoming album, Views From The 6, that has been plastered all over Toronto. The first ad was tweeted out by the city’s Billy Bishop Airport on Tuesday (Feb. 9) afternoon. The tweet consisted of two separate pictures and an ad reading “Four plus Two Equals 6.”
Drake later took to Instagram to share a larger billboard, which simply read “Views,” that was put up downtown Toronto.
Back in November, a mysterious billboard seen in Drake’s hometown led many to believe that the album’s release was approaching. Adding to its mystique, Drake shared a photo of the black billboard, which read, "The 6 is watching." He captioned the photo on Instagram with, “be home soon.”
Views is slated to be released in April.
