If there's one thing Miley Cyrus wants to get across in her Bangerz era, it's that she just wants to have a little bit of fun. Today (June 3), a scrapped song "Pretty Girls (Fun)" from her latest album hit the web, and the "Wrecking Ball" singer is proving she's just out to have a good time and twerk it.
Clocking in at just two minutes, twenty-seven seconds, "Pretty Girls" features a tantalizing beat courtesy of Cyrus' frequent collaborator Mike Will Made It and little else.
The quickness of the song, it's lack of lyrical content and it's dance-heavy vibes give it the feel of either an unfinished demo or a punchy little interlude, intended between two other songs on Bangerz, as Billboard points out.
Over the drippy, trappy beat, Cyrus proclaims at the beginning of the song that "all pretty girls wanna have fun," recalling the 1980s Cyndi Lauper classic "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." (Fun fact! Cyrus covered that song her more innocent days on 2008's Breakout.)
Though Cyrus' vocals are buried enough when they appear on the track, she drops out throughout the entire middle of "Pretty Girls" before reemerging on the end to declare her twerk-tastic ways, singing once again about how all the pretty girls wanna have fun.
Though inevitably cut from the album, "Pretty Girls (Fun)" could have had a nice place on Bangerz, which oftentimes wandered into too ballad-y territory. Unlike, say, the album's third single "Adore You," this track is a full-fledged "banger."
