Miley Cyrus, Flaming Lips collaboration in the works for 'Sgt. Pepper' cover album [PHOTOS]

The musical love affair between Miley Cyrus and The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne will continue into the studio. Over the weekend (March 14), Coyne posted photos of Cyrus in the studio as the two collaborate on some new music.

In the first of two photos on Instagram, Cyrus is seen with a certain... green herb that rhymes with "sharijuana." And, the two aren't just palling around and chillin' with some reefer, they're hard at work.

"Yup... Recordin with Miley... High as f***... #flaminglips #theflaminglips #tulsa #lovemoneyparty," Coyne captioned his photo.

Later, Coyne showed off an image with Cyrus that infamous tongue and a studio microphone, of course, there are also Photoshopped images of diamonds all over the place. According to that caption, The Flaming Lips and Cyrus are re-recording a version of the Beatles' "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" (which the Lips dropped earlier this year). And, they're not alone. Andrew VanWyngarden of MGMT is also reportedly cutting the track with them.

So, it's probably a really trippy time. Check out the Instagram images below:

Though the pairing may seem odd, this isn't the first time The Flaming Lips and Miley Cyrus have teamed up. Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd joined Cyrus for a performance of "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Pt. 1" on her Bangerz Tour last month.

According to NME, the collaboration is a part of an upcoming Flaming Lips' tribute album to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
