Kanye West has unveiled the complete credits on his new album The Life Of Pablo. In addition to Kanye West, nearly 100 other individuals worked on the album from writing, composing, producing, mixing and mastering. The credits are available on his website, but you still can't get the album anywhere else besides TIDAL, unless you want to pirate it, where it has been downloaded nearly 500,000 times.
Some of the collaborators include some obvious names like Kendrick Lamar and Ty Dolla $ign, who are listed on tracks such as "No More Parties In LA" and "Real Friends." However diving into the credits there is much more to learn how the album was put together.
Frequent collaborator Mike Dean is listed on 14 of the 18 tracks and mastered the whole affair, though this appears to be an issue as Kanye has pulled the album for issues with the mastering.
CyHi The Prince is listed as a writer on 11 tracks and Chance The Rapper is on five, not just "Ultralight Beam," which he is officially featured on.
Other names sprinkled around the album include Frank Ocean, Drake, Kid Cudi, Metro Boomin', Noah Goldstein, who works a lot with Drake and all of the artists that Kanye samples on the record. For those who think this is shocking, just go back and look at his previous albums - this is the norm.
His daughter and his son North and Saint are given consultant credits because why not.
While having a lot of names on an album when you get down to the mixing, mastering, A&R and marketing, like what Kanye has listed is common for any major label artists, regardless of genre, it is remarkable to see how many people West was able to pool together for this LP.
Dive into these credits and get googling because you will learn a lot of about what goes into making an album, especially one of this caliber with all of these artists.
