Taylor Swift received her three Grammy awards wearing an orange crop top and a hot pink skirt with a long slit showing her thigh gap. With that, Amy Schumer posted a photo with a caption referring to Swift's thigh gap.
Many fans interpreted it as rude rather than funny since it appears like body-shaming the award-winning star, HollywoodLife reported.
Schumer posted a picture of herself and fellow comedian Bridget Everett while they were on the beach wearing bikinis. She is seen at the back jumping high, giving us a glimpse of her thighs. The picture was captioned, “Taylor that's not a thigh gap. This is a thigh gap.”
The caption angered many Swift fans with one comment saying, "So she should body shame it's not natural and a bad role model!!!" Another one added, as quoted by Daily Star, "Why? Why? Like honestly how it any different if you making fun of someone fat vs making fun of some skinny. Every body has a different bone structure. I'm glad your proud of you body and that great but to make you proud you're putting down someone else [sic]."
The "Bad Blood" star has yet to comment on the issue but Schumer has responded to the negative reaction of Swift's fans through another Instagram post wherein she wore a short blond wig with a fake beard.
"That's not a beard this is a beard. So sorry to anyone with a beard this may offend. I am a comic and should never make fun of myself at the expense of anyone else that I wasn't making fun of in the first place. #relax #beard," the caption said.
She also shared the same post on Instagram and added a comment saying, "How about everyone takes a deep breath."
The post, which is structured in the same way as the caption that mentioned Swift, aims to tell everyone that she was just making a joke on her own expense and that she didn't mean to mock the "Blank Space" singer's body.
A representative of Schumer told People that the joke wasn't meant to anger the fans of Swift because the Trainwreck actress loves Swift and she was making a joke because she doesn't have a thigh gap.
