At the end of what has been a grueling weekend for Kesha, the "Timber" singer can luckily add another gal pal to her ongoing list of supporters. Taylor Swift, one of the biggest influences in pop music, not only supports Kesha, but donated $250,000 to show her support.
After being denied an injunction against Dr. Luke and Sony, everyone from Demi Lovato to Lady Gaga have come forward to Kesha's defense. It was not until two days after Kesha's day in court that Swift came forward to show her support, but she is showing it in a big way. Swift's spokesperson broke the information to E! News.
"In a show of support, Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to Kesha to help with any of her financial needs during this trying time," they said.
Another person who is amazed by the support is Kesha's mom, Pebe Sebert, who tweeted about Swift's generous donation.
Swift is now the latest singer to show Kesha her support. People like Lady Gaga, Lorde, Demi Lovato, Lily Allen, Grimes, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Kelly Clarkson have taken to social media to show their support.
There has been an on-going case between Kesha, Dr. Luke and Sony for Kesha to have the right to make and release her own music without Dr. Luke's authority. On Friday a judge denied her request, which had been made by her lawyer, Mark Geragos, saying that if she could not continue to make music her career will be "irreaparably harmed".
"You're asking the court to decimate a contract that was heavily negotiated and typical for the industry." Judge Kornreich said in denying the injunction, "There has been no showing of irreparable harm. She's being given opportunity to record."
Despite Kesha's legal setback, she has been extremely thankful for everyone's support. It also cannot hurt to have one of the biggest influences of the music industry on your side. Hopefully everything works out for Kesha and she is back to filling our ears with her music.
