‘Full House’ Star Dave Coulier Claims Alanis Morissette’s ‘You Oughta Know’ Isn’t About Him

After years of believing Alanis Morissette was singing about Full House star Dave Coulier – aka Uncle Joey – in her Jagged Little Pill single "You Oughta Know," it seems we may have been mistaken all along. At least, that's what the 54-year-old actor/comedian is claiming in a recent interview he did with BuzzFeed.

Coulier and Morissette dated all the way back in 1992, three years before Jagged Little Pill was released.

The tune has become one of music's best-kept secrets, and to this day, the singer refuses to acknowledge whom it's actually about. Truth be told, our guess is she probably gains a hefty amount of enjoyment from keeping everybody hanging. Plus, who didn't love thinking Uncle Joey was the guy who left that mess when he went away... to paraphrase the single.

"It's just funny to be the supposed subject of that song," Coulier says. "First of all, the guy in that song is a real a-hole, so I don't want to be that guy." He goes on to admit that he has brought the question to Morissette in the past after telling her of the incessant phone calls he was receiving from the media, but her response was vague. She replied, "Well, you know it could be a bunch of people. But you can say whatever you want."

Despite the constant prodding over the years, the Full House star finds humor in the whole thing, saying, "It's just become this silly urban legend that I just have to laugh at."

The interview wraps up with Coulier declaring he's never been drunk enough to sing "You Oughta Know" at karaoke. But really, wouldn't that be delightful?
