On the heels of the success of Rihanna’s “Work” featuring Drake, OVO Sound signee PARTYNEXTDOOR’s reference track for the song has surfaced. PND took to Instagram to express his gratitude toward the two hitmakers and hinted at a new album.
As noted by HotNewHipHop, actress Keke Palmer shared snippets from PND's "Work" reference track on Snapchat. He is credited as the writer, while Sevn Thomas, Boi-1da and Allen Ritter handled the production.
The ANTI single, which recently received video treatment, currently sits at No. 1 on the Hot 100. The song marks Rihanna’s 14th appearance on the top of the chart and Drake’s second No. 1. His first was his 2010 duet with Rihanna, "What's My Name.”
PND earned his first No. 1 with the track. He shared his appreciation for the song’s success and made an exciting announcement on social media.
“My first #1 as a songwriter. Thank you @badgalriri and @champagnepapi for the opportunity. Album on the way,” he captioned a brief clip of him and Rihanna in the studio.
Last April, PND spoke on the highly anticipated release during an interview for his cover story with the Fader.
"The album's coming. I wanna make 100 songs for my album. I work very fast, but I haven't reached 100 yet. So when I get to 100, I'll pick from them. I have collaborators, but that's a secret. [My] dream list is like Tupac and Biggie. That's the dream list, but hopefully everything else is realistic."
PND's last album PARTYNEXTDOOR TWO, which features fan favorite "Recognize" with Drake, was released back in 2014.
In January, it was revealed that PND’s collaborative Party at 8 EP with TM88 had been shelved. Back in October, the project’s title track was leaked onto SoundCloud. Shortly thereafter, the song was pulled at the request of Warner Music. That same month, PND uploaded seven new songs that premiered on Drake’s OVO Sound show on Beats 1 Radio. The songs were subsequently removed from the music sharing service.
