Just after he released his seventh album, The Life Of Pablo, Kanye West announced that he will be releasing another album this summer while he was ranting on Twitter, adding that it will be titled Turbo Grafx 16. And it appears that the new album will soon be released since the rapper has begun working on it.
Ibn Jasper, a friend of West, uploaded a picture on Instagram showing West with Mike Dean and Plain Pat, as well as artist Kid Cudi in a studio. The photo has the caption, "TURBO GRAFX 16 day 1#PABLo #MikeDean #CUDi #PlainPat."
On the upcoming album, West revealed that he will feature tracks with Drake, Future and Young Thug, Billboard reported. He also did a preview of the Jay Z track "Closest Thing To Einstein" during a VIP party in Los Angeles' 1OAK club as well as a Migos-Yeezy collaboration snippet that was leaked on social media. But it is still not confirmed if those songs will be part of the next album, Rap Up reported.
The title of the album was revealed by the "Gold Digger" rapper on Twitter, saying that the name is an homage to his favorite game console when he was still a child. The game is designed and manufactured by Japan’s NEC, which was launched in Japan in 1987 for PC. It featured a 16-bit graphics processor, beating Sega Mega Drive and Super Nintendo Entertainment System since it has visuals that matched the leading arcade games of the 1990s, the Guardian reported.
West also shared some nostalgic tweets about the game, which is the name of his upcoming album. His recent album, The Life Of Pablo took three years before it was finally released, which is exclusively available on TIDAL, as previously reported by Music Times.
