A long list of rappers call Brooklyn home, but Foxy Brown wants it known that she is the "one chick alone" who has been awarded the key to her "city."
Vibe announced the Ill Na Na rapper would receive the honor from the New York City borough. According to the site Brown, born Inga DeCarlo Fung Marchand, was recognized for her contribution to music history.
Brown shared her excitement on Instagram and welcomed all of the love friends shared in video messages.
Displaying a photo of the official citation she received from the office of Borough President Eric Adams, a proud Brown captioned the photo: "Wow!!! Only one chick alone got the 'key' to her home #BROOKLYN. It's official BK is mine."
Brown, 37, paid homage to Brooklyn in some of her most popular songs from the late '90s and early 2000s, like "Na Na Be Like" from the album Broken Silence and other in tracks on albums Ill Na Na and Chyna Doll.
Some of the MC's closest friends and supporters posted congratulatory messages on her Instagram page. Singer-producer Wyclef Jean serenaded Brown to let her know how much Brooklyn loves her.
Brown also got some love from Ilyasah Shabazz, daughter of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz.
Congratulations to Foxy Brown, who could be dropping not-so-subtle hints that she is ready to return to music. The rapper has been captioning several of her Instagram photos with #SOONCOME, indicating that something is on the way. She also posted this photo welcoming her back with the hashtag #GETSCARED.
